  •   How can I download the LinkSquare Basic software?

    You can download the software from the link provided in your order-related emails.

  •   Where can I find my LinkSquare Basic product key for installation?

    You can find your UDID in the Quick Start Guide that is included in your LinkSquare Basic.

  •   What kinds of data do you get from the collection tool?

    LinkSquare Basic provides both raw and pre-processed data.

  •   Why do you do data pre-processing?

    Pre-processing minimizes measurement variation and reduces noise.

  •   Does LinkSquare Basic come packaged with any data analysis software?

    No. You will need your own tools, such as Excel or MATLAB.

  •   Does Stratio provide any data-related services?

    We do not provide data-related services to individual LinkSquare Basic users. However, we do work with enterprises or groups in search of custom database solutions.

  •   Does Stratio have access to any of the data I collect with LinkSquare Basic?

    Stratio does not have access to, or ownership of, any of the data you collect with LinkSquare Basic.

  •   What is IoT Mode? What is AP Mode?

    IoT Mode and AP Mode are the names of the two different modes through which you can connect to a LinkSquare device.

    You can use IoT Mode when there is a Wi-Fi network available. The LinkSquare device will connect to your computer (iPhone)  through the existing Wi-Fi network without any interruption to your internet connection. In situations where your Wi-Fi connection information does not change often, IoT Mode makes it easy to connect your LinkSquare device.

    You can use AP Mode when there is no Wi-Fi network available. LinkSquare will be a wireless access point (WAP) and your computer (iPhone) will connect to LinkSquare directly. In this case, your internet connection will be interrupted.

  •   Is Wi-Fi necessary?

    Yes. LinkSquare can only be connected through Wi-Fi. Your computer (iPhone) needs a Wi-Fi network adaptor.

  •   What if my computer doesn't have Wi-Fi connectivity?

    We recommend that you purchase a USB Wi-Fi network adaptor that supports 802.11 b/g/n.

  •   Should I get the Basic Package or Professional Package?

    The only difference between Basic Package and Professional Package is that the latter contains API software. The API software gives you access to the LinkSquare device, allowing you to create a private label application with the LinkSquare device.

    Therefore, it is advised that you get Basic Package if you plan to only collect and analyze spectral data. If you plan to make a private label application, you should get Professional Package. Please see below for more detailed information.

     

    Basic Package (LinkSquare 1 / LinkSquare NIR)

     

    Each package contains:

    • 1× LinkSquare device (LinkSquare 1 or LinkSquare NIR)

    • LS Collector software (no subscription required)

    • LinkSquare app (free download)

     

    It is recommended for:

    • Collecting spectral data portably and/or in the field

    • Exporting spectral data to third party programs for analysis

    • Using pre-made applets in the LinkSquare app

    • Using AI Platform to create simple custom applets in the LinkSquare app

     

    Professional Package (LinkSquare 1 / LinkSquare NIR)

     

    Each package contains: everything from Basic Package + API software

    It is recommended for:

    • Creating customized software and applications outside of the LinkSquare app

    • Users that require control over how LinkSquare obtains spectral data

    • Institutions/organizations looking to develop customized solutions with LinkSquare

     

    Please note: LinkSquare API is not compatible with AI Platform.

  •   Can I keep using the internet while connected to a LinkSquare device in IoT Mode?

    Yes. You can maintain your current internet connection.

  •   Why can't I find my LinkSquare device?

    There are several known issues that prevent your LinkSquare from being used in IoT Mode, including:

    - Wi-Fi frequency bands other than 2.4GHz,

    - Wi-Fi standards other than 802.11b/g/n,

    - 802.11n with Modulation and Coding Scheme (MCS) index value 8 or higher,

    - Wi-Fi router not supporting mDNS service discovery,

    - Wi-Fi router requiring an extra authentication step, such as a Terms and Services agreement page, or

    - In case of computer, firewall settings blocking mDNS service discovery.

  •   Which Wi-Fi networks are supported by LinkSquare?

    - 802.11b/g is fully supported.

    - 802.11n with MCS index value 7 or lower is fully supported.

    - 802.11n with MCS index value 8 or higher is not supported.

    - Other 802.11 standards are not supported.

  •   How can I check the firewall settings on my computer?

    Go to Control Panel > System and Security > Windows Firewall > Advanced Settings. Under 'Inbound Rules', there should be an entry that allows connections with UDP protocol to local port 5353. It should not be bound to a specific program.

  •   How do I know if my LinkSquare is ready for discovery?

    When your LinkSquare is preparing for discovery, the blue LED lights around the LS Button will blink quickly for up to 30 seconds. When your LinkSquare is ready for discovery, the blue LED lights around the LS Button will begin to blink slowly, approximately once every 1.5 seconds. If the LED lights are green, press the LS Button once so that the LinkSquare device can change its connection mode.

  •   I can see that my LinkSquare is ready for connection, but it is not shown in the list.

    If a LinkSquare device is connected to an existing Wi-Fi network, it becomes ready for discovery. There is a chance that the device is connected to a Wi-Fi network other than the one that your computer (iPhone) is connected to. In this case, switch to AP Mode and change the Wi-Fi network information using the LS Config program (through the Device Settings page).

  •   I can see the list of LinkSquare devices. How do I know that it is my device?

    The Device List shows available LinkSquare devices by their names. The initial device name is a 7-digit alphanumerical word. The three numbers at the end of the initial device name are the same as the last three digits of your Unique Device ID (UDID) (found in your Quick Start Guide). You can also change the device name later using the LS Config program (through the Device Settings page). Once you change the device name, the device list will show the new device name instead of the 7-digit initial device name.

  •   The connection fails to establish after I click the 'Connect' button.

    Currently, only one software can be connected to a LinkSquare device at any one time. Please make sure that there is no other software program (e.g., LS Collector, LS Config, or LinkSquare App) using the LinkSquare device.

  •   Can I keep using the internet while connecting to a LinkSquare device in AP Mode?

    No. AP Mode requires you to connect to a Wi-Fi network created by your LinkSquare device. You will lose the internet connection.

  •   How do I know the Wi-Fi network name of a LinkSquare?

    The Initial Service Set Identifier (SSID) of a LinkSquare’s Wi-Fi network starts with "LS-" and ends in a 7-digit alphanumerical series. This 7-digit series is the same as the initial device name explained in the IoT Mode section; the last three numbers are the same as the last three digits of the Unique Device ID (UDID) (found in your Quick Start Guide). You can also change the device name later using the LS Config program (through the Device Settings page). Once you change the device name, the SSID of your LinkSquare’s Wi-Fi network is the "LS-" prefix followed by your chosen device name.

  •   What is the password of the LinkSquare Wi-Fi network?

    The initial password is eight zeros (00000000). You can change the password later using the LS Config program (through the Device Settings page).

  •   What if I forget the password of the LinkSquare Wi-Fi network?

    You can reset the password to its initial value. First, turn off LinkSquare. Then press the LS Button to turn on the LinkSquare device. Keep holding the LS Button for approximately 20 seconds, until the LED lights around the LS Button flash. It indicates that the password is initialized.

  •   Why is the 'Connect' button disabled?

    Based on the SSID of the current Wi-Fi network, your computer (iPhone) is not connected to a LinkSquare device. Please make sure that the Wi-Fi network connection is properly set up.

  •   I can see my LinkSquare Wi-Fi network in the list of available networks,
      but when I connect to it, it is refused.

    In AP Mode, only one device, such as a computer, smartphone, or tablet, can be connected to your LinkSquare’s Wi-Fi network at any one time. Please make sure that no other device is connected to it.
